Christmas in the Tropics.

A couple of weeks ago i took a trip to the humid swamps of Florida. Sorry Al Gore, they appear to be above water still... With my family we braved the Christmas season's influx of tourists and had a grand time at the happiest place on earth, Disney World.

My Grandma, my brother Johnny, his wife Jamie and their kids, Jackson age 7, Max age 5, and Sadie age 0.6 joined us as we outsmarted the average visitor and managed our way onto every ride. I spent most of my time making peace with Max and Jackson as they jockeyed around for my attention. Luckily, i was born with two hands so they could both get get one as we trekked through the mazes of people. hanging out with these crazy dudes led to many hilarious conversations that i will now highlight.

Kids Say the Darnedest Things: I'm sorry I'm not Bill Cosby...

Scene 1:

(We are at my brother's hotel room, and after a retelling of the Christmas story we have a birthday party for Jesus, complete with ice cream cake which I have just brought into the room. My brother looks over at his boys as they begin on their slices of cake.)

Johnny: Now you be sure to thank the birthday boy tonight. (Thinking they will thank him in their prayers tonight.)

Max: Happy Birthday Benn!!!

Scene 2:

(We are at Bennihanas enjoying a nice meal and the mesmerizing knife work of our personal chef when Johnny turns to Jackson.)

Johnny: How do you like it Jackson?

Jackson: (His face a mask of pure awe.) This is better than Old Country Buffet!!!

Scene 3:

(It's late as I am ushering out of my hotel room my brother's family so that i can get to bed and have a full sleep before our early start in the morning.)

Jamie: Boys, what do you say to your Uncle Benn?

Jackson: Goodnight, Uncle Benn!

Max: Goodnight Fartface!

Benn: (I shout after him as he scampers out the door) What did i say about name calling?! (but he's gone)

Jamie: ... you have to admit, that was pretty awesome.

Benn: ... Yeah it was...

Scene 4:

(We are at Epcot, right near the China showcase. The adults are discussing the next course of action.)

Max: (Nonchalantly) I love karate.

Scene 5:

(Later at Benihana's, our chef has left and we are enjoying our meal. I'm focused on my food when Max looks at me intently, and smiles.)

Max: You have a Girl-Hole!

(My face is plastered in a state of pure shock. Had this child just said what i thought?)

Max: (As he laughs) In your ear!

(My face and all of the adult faces around the table become even more horrified and astounded.)

Max: For your earrings!

(The table breaths a collective sigh of relief as we realize that little Max was just making fun of a dimple on my ear that looks a bit like an ear piercing. Crisis averted.)

CURTAIN.

Sorry this is a little lengthy, but i thought you should know the caliber of people on this trip. I hope you enjoy the new music that i put up, and i hope your holiday was as great as mine.

With relief,

Benn.
